The mandatory part of the program of the jubilee regatta is completed, it remains to hold the medal race, and now we can sum up the main results.

One of the main events of the day was for us the entry of Pavel Sozykin and Denis Gribanov in class 470 into the medal race. The team was able to climb three positions, taking ninth place in the final protocol. Thus, today the guys will continue their performance.

“Our goal was to get into the medal race. To do this, we had to finish very well in each of today's races, and we succeeded in this, ”said Denis Gribanov, the team leader. – In the first race came fifth, but due to the fact that the leaders – the Swedes – had a false start, we climbed to the fourth position. In the second race came the 12th, and that was enough to get into the top ten. If we talk about the Saturday race, then our goal is to try to climb higher in the standings ".

In the class of RS: X, Vladislav Burmistrenko (4th place) and Alexander Askerov (7th) entered the top 10, they will also start today. Only now, unfortunately, they will not be able to compete for prizes, the gap between their closest rivals is too great – almost 30 points.

Our other athletes could not get into the medal race, although some of them also showed decent results. So, Sergey Komissarov in the Laser Standard class finished six times in the top ten! Alas, two failures did not allow him to get into the medal race.

“I am pleased with today's result, finishing in the gold fleet in the top ten is a good level, especially considering that the strongest riders came to the regatta, and by the level of struggle it can be compared to the World Cup,” said Sergey. – Pavel on Thursday is more likely to be connected with unstable weather. Three minutes after the start, we just stopped due to the lack of wind, and the riders who chose the right side, at the same time went on gliding. Five minutes we just stood – and could not help it. And when they did reach the top mark, the wind changed direction by 60 degrees … Such races happen, they must be experienced and conclusions drawn. We have already talked with the coach about how it was possible to foresee such a development of events and how to avoid such situations in the future. ”

Also worth noting is the level of Jan Cech and Ivan Zotov in the 49er class – 15th place in the final protocol demonstrates the high potential of the team. The guys are fully able to fight for prizes.
