Already three days continuing attempt of the famous French skipper Francis Guiana along with a crew of four to install the Maxi-trimaran IDEC Sport a new world record on the classic route of the race of Tea – about 15 thousand nautical miles from Hong Kong to London.
Recall that in 2018 a record – 36 days, 2 hours, 37 minutes and 2 seconds – owned by Giovanni Soldini and Maxi trimaran Maserati Multi 70. As we reported to improve the achievement of the Italians, the French must cross the finish line, passing under the bridge of Queen Elizabeth II on the Thames, not later than 11 hours, 36 minutes and 58 seconds on Saturday 23 February.
For the first three days of IDEC Sport is successful (and, most importantly, fast enough) to overcome all the obstacles in the South China sea (where on the route there were many Islands and thousands of fishing boats). Covered 1730 miles, and now Guion Ko (red trimaran on the tracker) ahead of schedule Maserati Multi 70 (white trimaran) at 284,4 miles! Agree, great start!
However, IDEC Sport is very close to the area of light winds. And soon it will come to the Sunda Strait, separating the Islands of Java and Sumatra.
