Opening ceremony – in the Park of the 300th anniversary of

Today in the Park of the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg at 18.00 will begin the opening ceremony of the world Cup in sailing in the class RS:X Championships.

Saint Petersburg for the first time takes world-class competition in the Olympic class sailing. Boys and girls will compete in two age groups – under 17 and 19 years.

The ceremony will be attended by 103 rider from 19 countries. In Saint Petersburg there have arrived sportsmen from Russia, Israel, Turkey, Hong Kong, Holland, Greece, Spain, USA, Italy, France, Thailand, Japan, UK, Poland, Philippines, Belarus, Cyprus, Estonia and Oman.

The largest representation in the competition will be from Russia (18 athletes), Israel (17) and France (12).

Youth national team of Russia will be represented by Jan Reznikova, Dana School, Larissa Krivoshlykova, Anastasia Shchedrin, Daria Bath, Evangelina Boytsova, Anton Tokarev, Roman Ryaguzov, Daniil Soloshenko. There will also be athletes from the national teams of subjects of the Russian Federation.

During the ceremony, greeted the athletes will turn bronze medalist of the Olympic games in 2016 and the Ambassador of the world championship in Windsurfing for juniors Stefania Elfwina. Video Stephanie will be broadcast on the big screen in the Park of the 300th anniversary.

At the end of the ceremony the participants and guests will perform cover band from Pskov Drum&Jazz. Musicians practicing a variety of styles from jazz to pop and rock music. In 2018 Drum&Jazz won the first season of the Russian talent show streets “Street Stars”, conducted by social network “Vkontakte”.

The race is scheduled for August 6.
