In honor of the Navy Day
On July 27 and 28, a regatta dedicated to the Day of the Russian Navy was held in the Gulf of Finland. The regatta is held for the fifth time and invariably collects a large number of yachtsmen. Regatta organizers: St. Petersburg Maritime Assembly, St. Petersburg River Yacht Club of Trade Unions and the Oranienbaum Sailing Society.

In honor of the Navy Day

At the start of the regatta came 36 crews of yachts of various classes and sizes from 15 to 5 meters in length. All participants were divided into 6 test groups.

The regatta was held 2 days.

On July 27, a 20-mile sea race took place along the route Kronstadt – Tolbukhin Lighthouse – Fort Obruchev – and back to the prizes of the St. Petersburg Maritime Assembly. The race was held under favorable weather conditions: the sun, the wind, which intensified during the race, allowed the participants to go the distance in time and enjoy the race.

During the route to the start of the route race on July 27, the participants held the already traditional parade of sails against the background of the ships that came to the Main Naval Parade. After the regatta participants returned to the harbor, a friendly dinner and a concert awaited.

On July 28, the wind increased sharply to 12 meters, with gusts of up to 17 meters. In coordination with the most resistant participants of the regatta, 2 small races were held, which revealed strong spirit and strong bodies of experienced sailors.

In the same period, a group of yachts of the domestic class MX 700 conducted a series of 8 short races, in their distance.

All participants of the regatta received memorable signs designed specifically for the regatta. Winners and prize-winners of races received exclusive prizes, designed specifically for the regatta, books about the Baltic and Black Sea fleets and the Leningrad naval base. There were also gifts from sponsors and books by yachtsman Alexander Utkin, autographed by the author.

The winners of the first day are:

In group L6, the crew of the yacht "Amur",

In the ORC group the crew of the yacht "Fregat",

On behalf of the St. Petersburg Maritime Assembly, the winners and participants of the regatta were congratulated and awarded by the Senior Officer Vasily Kamlyuk.

The chief judge of the competition was a member of the St. Petersburg Maritime Assembly, Commander of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club of Trade Unions Valentin Naumov.

The coastal program and the meeting of the participating crews was organized by the President of the Oranienbaum Sailing Society, Yevgeny Zakharov.

It is pleasant to note that now the fifth year of the regatta dedicated to the Day of the Navy is one of the significant events in the life of the St. Petersburg sailing society.
