Great result opened the third stage of the 52SuperSeries team of the Yacht club of Saint-Petersburg “Battleship”. After two races, held on 16 July in Cascais (Portugal), the team of Vladimir Liubomirov ranked third. There is still four days of racing.
After the calm of racing at Menorca in June the fresh ocean breeze in Cascais pleased with the fleet of seven teams (seven countries) who arrived at the start of the third stage 52SuperSeries of the season. In the growing North wind, reaching 25 knots, the fleet spent two dynamic race that ended with very interesting results.
First, the winners of the 52SuperSeries 2018 Americans from Quantum Racing finally “become great again”. After a bad phase in Spain, the team of ed Baird reminded who the opponents are dealing, 2nd and 1st wards. Moreover, in the second race the lead the team at the finish was 240 m! The second, by the way, came “Battleship”.
For the Russian team the first day also proved to be successful. After a bronze at the previous stage, the crew of the PWM Fantela and Vladimir Liubomirov is not going to slow down. With the 4th and 2nd wards on the first day the team shared second place in the table with the two rivals.
“It was a struggle for each meter: for example, in the first race we were gebalis fifth, but managed to get around the “Phoenix” and to finish fourth, says Vladimir Liubomirov. – In the second race, again in the fifth sign, then the fourth, but on the second position came only on the last leg – it was a really memorable flight on the plane!”
It is worth noting that the rivals are not far behind, despite the titles and the experience of leaders. According to the results of the first day second line with the “Battleship” share the winners of the previous stage, Turkish Provezza and Vice-Champions of the 2018 Champions-2017 Italian Azzurra (which on Tuesday was twice third – amazing stability).
Accordingly, the intrigue inherent in the results, promises rich second day of racing in Cascais. In General, competitions of the third stage 52SuperSeries in Portugal will last until July 20.
