Video Awards
In Bilbao (Spain), where the traditional Yacht Racing Forum takes place these days, the results of the 3rd International Sailing Video Contest – Mirabaud Sailing Video Award have been summed up.
The international jury, a member of which, we note, this year is our permanent (and, frankly, beloved) author – Elena Otekina, in the most careful way examined all 34 videos submitted for the contest.
The best was recognized as the video of the Spaniard Manuel Llardo, dedicated to the racing of classic yachts and filmed during the Puig Vela Clásica Regatta. Here is what Otekina wrote on her page in the FB about this:
“I'm glad I voted for this video. In today's world of carbon fiber yachts and flying catamarans, it was important to feel the spirit of sailing as it was, is and will be, in spite of any hydrofoils, swinging keels and the latest electronics. ”
The second prize went to the plot of the Frenchman Yann Riu, who was prepared for the start of Maxi Trimaran Maxi Edmond de Rothschild in the Brest Atlantiques race.
As for the third prize, it was received by the Portuguese Ricardo Pinto for the video on the transatlantic transition of the skipper yacht Boris Hermann Malizia with Greta Tunberg on board.
At the same ceremony in Bilbao, awards were presented to the authors of those videos that gained the most votes on the Web. Prizes were awarded to Jose Cigarran (Spain), Cherie Bridges (UK) and Pierre Lalleman (France).
