Although the yacht Jean-Luc was allowed to race after checking for compliance with the rules, some people began to doubt the validity of modifications made to them. In particular, it concerns the use of a shortened 1.5 meter mast.
Don confirmed that such modification complies with the rules of the race. Thus emerged a curious detail.
You remember that after incomplete somersault through the nose on the mast of the yacht Jean-Luc was severely damaged mount guys in the middle of the mast. The bolt that holds the mount guys, started under load to shift down, extending the standard hole.
It turns out that before the start of Jean-Luc wanted to use 6mm guys instead of the regular 8 mm., the Rules allow only the amplification of rigging. The use of thinner guys Jean-Luc was not given.
Jean-Luc suggests that if the guy was thinner at the time of roll they might be a little stretch, sprinit. The load on the mount would not be so large, and the probability of injury would be less.
Who knows… the Arguments of Jean-Luc sound reasonable. Don is considering amendments to the technical regulation #GGR2022.
