Italian shipyard Cantiere delle Marche launched a new line of expedition yachts Flexplorer. The shipyard started to look for a customer for this project worth more than € 17 million in June. Now, when the owner of the first 39,4 meter Flexplorer’and found the docks Cantiere delle Marche launched the construction project which will be completed by 2020.
The yacht will be “to have all the features of a pure research vessel” with “the extra flexibility and functionality,” according to the shipyard.
Flexplorer case of steel and aluminium, designed by Hydro Tec, features a nearly vertical stem and a spacious deck. Key design feature of the ship — and-aft bulwarks on both sides of the boat, creating a so-called infinite deck, providing guests convenient access to water and boats-tenders.
The aft deck is equipped with a crane that allows you to easily upload a tender weighing up to 2.5 thousand kg and a length of up to 8.5 meters. When the crane is not in use, it is stored folded up on the deck.
The movement of the yacht leads couple diesel Caterpillar C32 engines with a capacity of 1600 or 1800 HP, which will allow it to accelerate to 14 knots. At a cruising speed of 10 knots Flexplorer can take up to 5 thousand nautical miles.
On the yacht in five cabins with two Pullman berths can accommodate 12 guests. Three cabins for five crew members. First Flexplorer is also equipped with a gym and additional light hatches in the deck.
“This is a new class of yachts, which expands the potential use of research vessels”, — the Director of the technical Department of Cantiere delle Marche Troya Vasil (Vasil Truja).
According to him, the broad thickened the hull is equally suited for navigating the North West passage and stops at anchor in Saint-Tropez.
