Another license!
At the world championship in class 470, which takes place on the Japanese island of Enoshima, the matter goes to the denouement: tomorrow the medal races will take place. In this regard, we have two news – good and bad. Where to start?
Let's start with the good one. What is there – with excellent! Pavel Sozykin and Denis Gribanov provided Russia with another Olympic license. As you know, 4 tickets to the Games were played at the championship in Enoshima, and our crew was the second in this race – following the Greeks Panagiotis Mantis and Pavlos Kagialis.
In general, ours are well done! Thanks guys!
The other news is not that bad, but rather sad. According to the results of five qualification and six final races, Pavel and Denis took 11th place and did not get into the medal race. Although we, of course, hoped that they would fall.
Well, we remain optimistic. It didn’t work out now – it will work out at the Olympics! Sure!
Well, in the medal race the fight will be exciting. Two crews claim for gold – Jordi Xammar / Nicholas Rodriguez from Spain (they have 23 points, and they finished first in 6 out of 11 races) and Australians Matthew Belcher / Will Ryan (24 points). At the same time, the rest are far behind and can only claim to bronze.
As for the women's tournament, Alisa Kirilyuk and Angelika Chernyakhovskaya eventually took 29th place.
The leaders before the medal race are still the British Hannah Mills / Eilid McIntyre – 48 points. But Japanese Ai Kondo Yoshida / Miho Yoshioka is very close (49).
