Launched in 2006, the race immediately found a response among both famous and ordinary athletes of the “Mini” class. The race takes place every two years and starts for the eighth time this year.
This race is rated A (like the Mini Transatu) and requires special training for any sailor who wishes to sail across the Atlantic.
However, this season, the format of the SAS race has been changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And now, instead of two stages of 1,300 miles each with an intermediate stop in the Azores, there will be three stages – with a start and a finish in Les Sables d’Olonne harbor. The race result will count towards the French Championship as part of the Course au Large en Solitaire (offshore ocean long distance racing). Arrival and registration of boats and crews starts from the 1st of August.

Stage 1: Les Sables d’Olonne – Les Sables d’Olonne (197 miles)
