In the final of the Star Sailors League is the main regatta of the class “Star” — an experienced Brazilian pair Robert Sheidt / Henry Boening (Robert Scheidt / Henry Boening) missed the victory with his younger compatriots Jorge Zarif (Zarif Jorge) and Truce Pedro (Pedro Trouche).
Zarif and Truce, both of which are not thirty, managed to win in each of the three races in the shootout.
In the final leaderboard, Said and Boening considered their main competitors to Diego Negri (Negri Diego) and a Wedge of frithjof (Frithjof Kleen), and not his countrymen. As it turned out, it was a mistake. Zarif and Truce won the final race, breaking away from rivals by more than 150 meters.
“That’s awesome! Since childhood, Robert is my biggest idol. To be here, to compete with him and with others is an amazing experience. And for this opportunity I should thank that guy,” said Zarif, pointing to his friend Truce that he knows 15 years and who “knocked” him to participate in the SSL this year.
Situ and Boening the result still managed to get around Negri and Wedge and finish second. Italo-German crew won in these competitions only the bronze. Victory Zarif and Truce was “absolutely deserved”, he admitted after the race, Said.
“They won three races by a large margin. They quickly and was well and the wind and against the wind. Jorge is ahead — a bright future,” said Said.
According to Zarif, otkrivanje and pumping during the last race really took it out of him. I can only imagine how hard was then his Shkotovo Truce, which in addition to the physical exertion needed to overcome psychological: unlike Zarif, for him these competitions SSL was the first, not fourth.
“This is the biggest award that I have won. I’ve never participated in competitions of such level. And I won Robert Saitta. What a feeling! He is a legend. I’m very happy,” admitted Truce.
In addition to the joy of the victory over the masters of sailing Zarif and Truce will take home 40 thousand dollars — the fifth part of the prize Fund of the League of 200 thousand dollars.
Russian-Ukrainian crew George Shaiduko and Vitali Kushnir, unfortunately, not out of skill. Like last year, the Duo under skipperton Saduko took the last 25th place. Poor health forced steering the boat under the Russian flag to skip the first race of qualification. The best result that our crew have shown in this regatta — 11th place in the second race.
“We are disappointed because the final was crumpled. The result, of course, not the one we expected, which is expected,” said George Shaiduko.
Not only Shaiduko and Kushnir had to miss part of the competition. British-Swedish team of Ian Percy (Iain Percy) and Anders Ekström (Ekström Anders) missed two out of three days of professional development (the steering was forced by urgent business to go home), but for the remaining four races have managed to rise to 22nd place. That, however, is still not enough to reach the quarter-finals, where he allowed teams from 10 locations.
Especially sad not to get to the coveted top ten was a Hungarian-Czech crew WBerets of ambora (Zsombor Berecz) and Michael Meier (Michael Meier). They scored as many points as trailing top Grael Lars (Lars Schmidt Grael) and Samuel Goncalves (Samuel Gonçalves), but in General, the results of the Europeans was worse than the Brazilians.
However, it is unlikely that their offense is comparable with the disappointment of Robert Saitta and Henry Boening. According to the results of the qualifying races the crew was as close as ever to protect the title of “champion of Champions” class, “Star”: they finished in the top three eight times out of eleven.
“To take first place in qualifying is not very much. We are happy that we were in the finals, but will have to compete with the best teams, and they still need to beat. It will be difficult,” said Robert Said before the quarter finals.
As we know, these words proved to be prophetic.
