Last night Maxi-trimaran Spindrift 2 skipper Ian Stade Geoffroy-Guichard crossed the longitude of Cape of Good Hope. It happened after 12 days, 13 hours and 8 minutes after the start.
Recall that the main virtual competitor 2 Spindrift – trimaran IDEC SPORT, which skipper Francis Joyon in 2017 set the world record non-stop race around the world – the same segment (from the start to the longitude of the Cape of Good Hope) overcame 12 days, 19 hours and 41минуту. That is, at this point the advantage of Guichard and Co was 6 hours 32 minutes.
In less than two hours after that Spindrift 2 crossed the longitude of Cape Agulhas (Cape Agulhas) to the most southern point of Africa. It happened after 12 days, 14 hours and 58 minutes after the start of Guiana and IDEC-SPORT was 6 hours 42 minutes worse.
For the most ardent lovers of statistics: a segment from the equator to Cape Agulhas Spindrift 2 was 7 days 17 hours straight.
At the moment, as of this writing (10.45 Moscow time on Tuesday), Guichard and Spindrift 2 was ahead of schedule Guiana and IDEC-SPORT 356 nautical miles. Speed 40-meter trimaran is now at 32.2 per node.
