Thomson intends to win at Vendée Globe
Briton Alex Thomson does not hide the fact that his main goal is to win the round-the-world race of singles Vendée Globe starting in November.
Recall that Vendée Globe-2012/13 Thomson finished third, and four years later became the second. Now he wants to win. But for this, Sir Alex – for starters – needs to cover at least 2,000 nautical miles in the upcoming Vendée-Arctic-les Sables d’Olonne qualification race.
This race (its entire length is 3600 nautical miles), recall, starts on July 4 along the route: Le Sables d'Olonne (France) – to the north (west of Iceland) to the Arctic Circle, turn south to the Azores, after which – return to Les Sables d'Olonne. The passage of the entire distance is about 10 days.
At least 2,000 miles in Vendée-Arctique, such well-known drivers as Nicolas Trussel, Sebastien Simon, Sebastien Destremo, Didac Costa and Louis Burton must also overcome.
But the main attention in this race, we are ready to assume, will nevertheless be drawn to Alex Thomson and his new Hugo Boss. Not only thanks to the achievements of the British. But also because he is the most “hyped” of all his competitors.
No wonder the most popular sailing site http://www.sailweb.co.uk accompanied the news about Thomson's participation in the Vendée-Arctique with a video about one of his most famous show numbers. The video has been six and a half years old, but don't let it bother you. It looks in one breath!
