“The waters were forced to smash his head”

June 15 ended stage 2 of the largest all-Russia children’s series regatta “Optimists of the Northern Capital. Gazprom Cup”. In the regatta was attended by 79 young sailors of the largest sailing schools in St. Petersburg and Leningrad region.

We will remind, athletes competed on the waters of Key coves, is located near the yacht port “Johannes” (the village Soviet of the Vyborg district of Leningrad region). The participants are lucky, the regatta was held in the comfortable weather conditions: the warm air, the wind up to 10 knots. The judges held 6 races: 3 on each day of the regatta.

On a par with the experienced racers in the regatta was attended by young athletes, “cadets” competing in a separate fleet. Some participants of the regatta have made the first steps in sailing in may of this year.

Vladimir Komel, the main judge of competitions: “the Competition was interesting. All riders – both experienced and beginners – did well, the waters were forced to break down. Young generally useful to race alongside the more experienced athletes, they catch on quickly, learn from the “Oldies” many important practical aspects”.

The regatta first place among juniors (2007 year of birth and older) and in the overall standings took Cyril Shanenkov from the sailing school “the sailing Academy Yacht club of Saint-Petersburg”, who seized the lead from the first race. After a successful second day for the second place went to another “Academic” Nikita Black. The third was the athlete of the school “Krestovskiy Ostrov” (St. Petersburg), Artem Hunker.

Nikita Black: “This is my first prize in the “adult” classification. It turned out to cling to the top three thanks to good speed: I deliberately worked on this. I will try to continue not to drop the bar and continue to perform well”.

Among the older girls proved himself best of all Darya Savinova from the sailing school “Favorit” (Vyborg), silver Sophia Polevoy (“Krestovsky island”), in third place completed the race another athlete “Krestovsky island” Stanislaus Hunker.

Among younger boys (2008 year of birth and younger) celebrated the victory of Dmitry Eremin (“Krestovsky island”), Pavel Guschin (Academy sailing) was second and Vladimir Liubomirov (another athlete from the Academy) third.

For younger girls the victory was celebrated Julia Naymushin, advocating for Krasnoyarsk, angelina Ivanova (“Krestovsky island”) is the second, bronze Eva Turkina (also “Krestovsky island”).

Among cadets-boys unconditional first place went to Rodion Shishimirov, second and third place – Nikita Grigoriev and Luke Kandibin. The girls showed the best result of Alexander Kondratenko, Varvara Yurchenko – second, Lyubov Denisova – third. All riders were represented at the competition the Academy of sailing.

At the awarding ceremony of the best racers received special diplomas and medals and with valuable prizes: speakers and headphones.

The regatta was the dress rehearsal for the athletes of the Russian team before the European Championship, which will take place 22-29 June in France. In the 2nd stage was attended by leading Russian riders: Cyril Shurenkov (Academy sailing of the Yacht club of Saint-Petersburg), Darya Savinova (“Favorite”, Vyborg), Danila Ivanov and Maxim Bondar (both from the “Krestovsky Ostrov”, St. Petersburg).

The yacht port “Johannes” takes a series of regatta “Optimists of the Northern Capital. Gazprom Cup” for the fourth year in a row.
