Saved by the crew of the supertanker
A dramatic story with a happy ending: the crew of the supertanker Seaways Reymar changed course to come to the rescue of the English yachtsman.
All British newspapers today write about this story. An Englishman (his name is not communicated) on a small yacht (her name is also not communicated) fell into a severe storm in the Atlantic and lost his mast.
The signal sent by the emergency beacon was received by the British and French rescue services, but the problem was that the yacht was too far from the European coast – more than five hundred nautical miles. It was impossible to send helicopters to the rescue.
Fortunately, the captain of the supertanker Seaways Reymar responded to the call. The 229-meter ship changed course, and after 8 hours, the injured yacht was discovered. The Englishman, despite the 5-meter waves, was lifted aboard. Then the supertanker continued on to the United States. All in all, happy end.
