Over a month before the world championship in the discipline of “match racing”, which will be held from 11 to 17 August in Ekaterinburg and entered the list of the most significant events of the Ministry of sports of Russia, the press service of the Provincial yacht club “Komatek” started to get our readers acquainted with the future participants of the regatta.
The first crew was from Australia. The skipper of the team – Tom Grimes. He and his Shkotovo – James Hodgson, Harry Hall and Jesse Grimes are members of the cruising yacht club of Australian Academy of sailing.
Last year, the youth of this school, the Australian Academy celebrated its 25th anniversary. Over the years, the Youth sailing Academy has produced world Champions, Olympians, winners of the Volvo Ocean Race and the Champions of the America’s Cup.
The team of Tom Grimes won the last two Australian sports racing. Tom and Jess Grimes – the world Champions among students.
To Ekaterinburg there will arrive also sailing teams from the USA, the Czech Republic, Sweden, UK, France, Argentina, Poland, Italy, New Zealand and Japan.
