Starting Transat Jacques Vabre
In the port of Le Havre – a pandemonium. To the people – do not push through. No wonder: the famous Transatlantic race Transat Jacques Vabre will be launched here on Sunday. Distance – 4350 nautical miles.
For the first time this race, which is often called the "coffee", was held in 1993. Like two years ago, Transat Jacques Vabre-2019 will finish in Salvador, the capital of the Brazilian state of Bahia. Double-handed race, that is, on each boat – two people.
This time, three classes of vessels will participate – class 40 (27 boats), Multi50 (3) and IMOCA60 (29). Particular attention, perhaps, will be riveted to the third of them, since here, according to the general opinion, the struggle will be the most intense, and a large group of stars of the world sail will fight for victory. Among them are Armel Le Clay, Alex Thomson, Boris Hermann, Jeremy Beiu, Charlie Enright, Sebastien Simon and many others.
