Monaco: Elf leads
In the yacht club of Monaco, the already traditional 36th sailing festival Primo Cup – Trophée Credit Suisse has started. Within its framework, five regattas take place at once. In two of them – in the J / 70 and Melges 20 classes – Russian teams also compete.
A more than representative campaign has gathered in the J / 70 class – 64 teams from almost two dozen countries. It is all the more pleasant because, according to the results of the first day and three races ahead, the Russian Elf of skipper Mikhail Sheremetyev – 6 points (three second arrivals).
The closest pursuer – American Furio Keith Wittemore – 12 points (parishes 6 – 5 – 1). In third place is the Swiss Cer Arrotec Nelson Mettro – 23 points (9 – 3 – 11).
On the 6th place is Amaiz Vyacheslav Martynov, flying the flag of Cyprus. And of the teams under the Russian flag, the closest to the leaders is ArtTube Rus1 Valeria Kovalenko, who is still in 18th place (63 points, arrivals 29 – 30 – 4).
In the Melges class regatta, 20 participants are only 6, with four of them performing under the Russian flag, and two more under the flag of Monaco, but all the skippers are our compatriots. Then after the first day and three races held … troop power! The team of Vadim Yakimenko (parishes 6 – 3 – 1), Alex Team Alexander Mikhaylik (4 – 1 – 5) and the team of Leonid Altukhov (2 – 4 – 4) scored 10 points each.
