Now let me introduce you a short interview with the candidate of the SPPS President Sergey Alekseev (he is the current president of the SPPS).
Yacht Russia: Why was the SPPS Closed Presidium announced?
Sergey Alekseev: No closed presidiums were held. Recently, people who interfered with work and intervened in the discussion of issues on the agenda came to meetings of the presidium. Therefore, the Presidium decided to invite to the meetings those members of the SPPS who are relevant to the issues under consideration.
YR: Is our information correct that there were not one such closed presidiums, but two?
S.A .: See question 1.
YR: How is your current program different from your previous program?
S.A .: The program is different in that the problems and challenges in our sport have changed. If eight years ago it was a reconstruction of the Union, solving organizational and financial problems, such as restoring the directorate, lost all documentation, paying large debts and taxes, restoring the strength and prestige of SPPS, now it is reviving the yachting infrastructure, preserving the largest and only accessible River the trade union yacht club, a team of experienced athletes and the largest fleet of cruising yachts in the city, which holds the entire sailing in the city. In addition, this is the solution to the most serious problems that the Olympics-2024 poses for us.
YR: Do you have a specific proposal (or decision) on how to unite St. Petersburg yachtsmen?
S.A .: Those problems that the SPPS created by Messrs. Fedorov, Semenov and Gromov have already rallied the city’s yachtsmen. Therefore, my candidacy for the presidency was supported by such clubs as Baltiets, Yacht Club of St. Petersburg, a team of athletes of the River Yacht Club, Class Association L6 and Dragon.
It’s nice that my colleagues from the All-Russian Federal Border Guard Service call me and support me.
Despite the unlawful actions of these gentlemen, we will hold our conference and rally even more.
YR: Is it fair to say that hidden business interests focused on the real estate of the River (Central) Yacht Club clashed around the election of the President of the Union of Right Forces?
S.A .: It’s hard for me to say that this is precisely the reason. I can note that the conflict with the leadership of the Private Institution “River Yacht Club of the Trade Unions” began after the SPPS supported the movement of the club’s yachtsmen against commercial development of the territory and agreed with the city administration that reconstruction projects would not be accepted without coordination with the yachtsmen.
After all, we still do not know how his administration is going to develop the territory of the club. The intentions of the Administration of the Petrograd Region to develop the territory of yacht clubs on Petrovsky and Krestovsky Islands are also incomprehensible. So far, all that they have done is to create the Krestovsky Ostrov school on the basis of the property of the St. Petersburg Sailing Club and fence off its quays with a wall. The school is funded by the budget, and athletes are taken from other schools. The level of “leadership” is evidenced by the tragedy that occurred at school – the death of a young athlete.
YR: Is there any chance to even stop the further closure of yacht clubs in the city?
S.A .: We will definitely stop. All this is in my program. Next year, the beautiful yacht port in Lakhta will be put into operation, the commercial development of the River Club is prohibited, the decision to restore the yacht club in Strelna has moved from a dead point.
We are looking for investors to implement a project to restore the yacht club in Kronstadt, prepared with the participation of SPPS.
We hope that Gromov and Semenov will keep their statements on the restoration of the ROPS house on Petrovsky Island and the creation of the Sailing Center of St. Petersburg on its basis, especially since the yachtsmen won a grant for its design.
P.S. The editors will continue to follow the events unfolding around the election of the SPPS president.
