World Cup final starts
In Marseille (France), the draw of the 2019 World Cup finals begins, in which 325 sailors from 40 countries will take part. The first races are tomorrow.
Competitions will be held in the ten current Olympic classes, as well as in kiteboarding, which will debut at the Games-2024. And in Marseille, men and women will compete together.
In five types – 49er, 49erFX, Nacra 17 and RS: X for men and women – medal races will be held on Saturday. In the rest – on Sunday.
Recall that the first stage of the current World Cup was held last September in Enoshima (Japan), the second in February 2019 in Miami, the third in April in Genoa. The first two stages of the Russian yachtsmen essentially missed (in Enoshima were five, in Miami only two – Pavel Sozykin and Denis Gribanov). Finally, in Genoa, Russia was represented quite widely, but none of ours got into the medal race, alas.
To participate in the finals of the World Cup 2019, the Russians are declared in four disciplines:
470 (men). Pavel Sozykin / Denis Gribanov.
RS: X (men). Evgeny Ayvazyan.
RS: X (women). Stephanie Elfutina.
Kiteboarding. Denis Taradin.
Few, of course, ours, but, I want to believe, all in vests. We wish them success!
