The website of the ROC has published an interview with Natalia Ivanova. We decided to reprint the interview – so you can understand what bothers and what pleases head coach of the national team of Russia on sailing.
Russian yachtsmen won the third license for the Olympic games in Tokyo. Company Stephanie Eluting (RS:X) and Sergei Komissarov (Laser) made up of lipchanka Yekaterina Zyuzina, who won for Russia the quota at the end of the world championship in the Laser class-radial.
In this class of boats in the competition in the Japanese Sakaiminato was played 10 Olympic licenses, despite the fact that already 20 countries have previously gained the coveted tickets to the Country of the rising sun. 18 quotas were distributed on the complex the 2018 world Cup in Denmark, one got the Japanese, as hosts of the Olympic regatta, and another license on the basis Aziatskiy games in 2018 won Malaysian yachtswoman.
In Sakaiminato Russia was represented by Ekaterina ziuzina and Valeria Lomachenko. For the native of the Rostov region championship was not quite good – 85 place of 111. Zyuzin was able to rise to 40 positions higher. Given the fact that licensees were exposed for 2 participants, 45-th place Russian was enough to solve the main problem.
— The goal is to win a world championship medal to Catherine was not, — has declared in interview to the information Service of the ROC, head coach of Russia on sailing Natalia Ivanova. – The strategy chosen was stable and without the risk to finish all the races, taking a particular passage. Zyuzin did everything she was supposed to.
— There were episodes when Kate had to worry about?
— The championship was very strict refereeing. In the race of the “Golden fleet” (the second stage of the competition with the participation of 56 of the strongest sailors – approx. V. T.) a Russian woman punished twice for the “42 rules”, this is when the athlete is severely rocking the boat. The interpretation of such episodes, often highly controversial, and in Sakaiminato suffered a lot of athletes.
As Kate said herself, it was such weather that the boat had to on the verge of disqualification, to protect themselves from collapsing. In the penultimate race she frankly could not start and it turned out bad parish – only 43. Zyuzin lost a good margin in points and fell out of the license area. However, in the final race Kate cope with the nerves, was the distance without heroism and with the 17th ward won the ticket to Japan.
— After the 2018 world Cup in Aarhus, where Zyuzin are unable to first try to get the Olympic quota, you subjected it to criticism. Over the past year has she changed much?
— Catherine is trying very hard. It was really a difficult period associated with injuries and illnesses that knocked her off balance and led to psychological breakdown. Now all the difficulties behind it were preparing for the world Cup and, as the results show, were able to mobilize in the crucial moments.
Olympic license is not registered?
— You are absolutely right. For all potential candidates for the trip to Japan was rigid demands – getting into the top eight at the world championship and the same result at the test events in Enoshima, which will be held from 15 to 22 August. I think that the coaching Board, the selection criteria that we will propose for approval by the Presidium of all-Russia Federation of sailing of Russia in December. Likely to be selected for two regattas in the spring of 2020.
— Three licenses for the Games in 2020 we have. How much you looking to get?
— 2 August in the Olympic waters Enoshima start to the world 470 class, where we will experience in our men’s and women’s of two. Good results in this year’s show Denis Gribanov/Paul Sozykin. So, on the prestigious regatta “the Cup of the Princess Sophia”, which this year was held for the 50th time, the boys took seventh place. A very strong crew, a decent performance at the Olympic games.
Girls for a license to compete Alisa Kirilyuk/Angelica Chernyakhovskaya. In this duet Chernyakhovsky was replaced by Lyudmila Dmitrieva. Alice took a new sheet immediately after the Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro and the world Cup in Enoshima will show how they managed to work well together.
— Who else among the candidates for participation in the Games-2020?
— From 29 November to 8 December in Auckland new Zealand will host the world championship in three classes: Nakra 17-mixed, 49th and 49th FX. Expect at least one license.
In the class Nakra 17-mixed will make our leaders Maxim Semenov/Alina schetinkin. Special attention should be paid to young crew from St. Petersburg in the class of 49-th FX – Zoya Novikova/Diana Sabirova. Athletes are progressing rapidly, though, and played together since last year. It is very difficult to manage a class, you can say, acrobatic. Before we were here hopelessly, and now the girls managed to prepare a good program.
Finally, in the class 49th poboleem Jan Cech and Ivan Zotov. Experienced Duo shows this season, good results. The complexity only one – only 4 Olympic licenses here will claim a lot of strong crews.
We will remind that on the Olympic games-2016 sailors from Russia took part in five categories out of ten. Class RS:X bronze medal was won by Stefania Elfwina, and Maxim Oberemko took 16th place. In class Laser Sergey Komissarov was the fifteenth, and among the boats 470 Paul Sozykin/Denis Gribanov and Alisa Kirilyuk/Liudmila Dmitrieva synchronously located on the 13-th position.
