Roads lead to Grozny!
The capital of the Chechen Republic – the city of Grozny – will be the first city where the participants of the project “Know Russia under sail” will go to 2019 – athletes of the Academy of sailing.
“Explore Russia under sail” – a unique project in Russia, in which St. Petersburg students of the Academy for a short time – 9-10 days – visit Russia's interesting places, conduct demonstration training races on their yachts, attracting the attention of residents and guests of the city to sailing.
The main objective of the project is to promote sailing among the local population.
The program for 2019 opens with a trip to one of the largest cities in the Caucasus, Grozny. In the Chechen Republic, students of the Academy of sailing will spend 10 days. From July 24 to July 28, athletes will train and delight guests on Lake Kazena-Am, and then go to Grozny. August 2 yachtsmen will return to St. Petersburg. Project coordinator Svetlana Markova told why the “Know Russia under sail” project is going to Chechnya:
“To many Russians, Chechnya seems to be a scorched desert with undeveloped infrastructure. In fact, it is a very green calm republic with amazing nature, modern cities and incredibly hospitable people. The beginning of our journey to the Republic of Chechnya will begin with the extraordinary beauty of Lake Kazena-Am, which is the largest lake in the North Caucasus. We are very lucky that we have the opportunity to be like yachts in such beautiful corners of our homeland. Our team plans to visit the capital of Chechnya, Grozny, a unique city that has survived many wars, almost complete destruction and shock restoration. He is known throughout the world and for many has long become a symbol of courage and perseverance. 2015 brought Grozny the title of "City of Military Glory." Our athletes will straighten their sails on the Grozny reservoir, and in the same place we plan to hold an "Open Doors Day" for children and youth of the republic, which will be held on July 30. We will be happy to meet the guys and their parents, we will be happy to tell you everything that we know about sailing and how we love it. ”
Recall that in the framework of the project, young yachtsmen from St. Petersburg in 2018 visited one of the most beautiful cities of the Golden Ring Uglich (Yaroslavl region) and Lake Baikal, and earlier in 2017 visited Votkinsk (the birthplace of PI Tchaikovsky), . Konstantinovo Ryazan region. (S.Esenin's homeland) and in the heart of Siberia – Tobolsk.
