Prize named after the great writer
The other day at the premises of the Paris Military School held a solemn ceremony Trophée Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. In translation – Prize of Antoine de Saint-Exupery.
From now on, this honorable award will be given to yachtsmen, who have set a new record for a round-the-world race – alone and non-stop.
The main hero of the ceremony was, of course, Francois Gabar, who in 2017 at the MACIF maxi-trimaran walked around the world in 42 days, 16 hours, 40 minutes and 35 seconds.
But at the same time, the organizers did not forget the previous record holder – Tom Covil, who a year earlier on the trimaran Sodebo Ultim also set a world record – 49 days, 3 hours, 7 minutes and 38 seconds. Trophée Antoine de Saint-Exupéry was awarded to him.
And I think they did the right thing.
