The Russian team won the Nord Stream Race regatta 2019. In 7.14 for dam near Kronstadt finished first boat. The last boat finished in 8.24.

The final stage of the regatta was held in extreme conditions. Yesterday in Helsinki the race Committee took the decision on holding the race, the start was given at 17.00 in the centre of the city. Boats went to St. Petersburg full course, closer to 22.00 the situation was made more difficult, the wind increased to 25 knots. Then the boat fell into the gap between two storm fronts and some time was moving at a speed of about 4 knots. In the morning 30-35-knots of wind and six-foot wave became the perfect accompaniment to finish the race.

All 14 hours was a tight battle, the boats were very close to each other. The Russian team after the start, took the lead, and then all the time was fighting for first place with the Danes and the Swedes. In one of the racing highlights of the Russian team felt that wrong, and, according to the rules of the race, completed a turn of 360 degrees. After this maneuver the Leviathan fell back to last place, but early in the morning the Russians were able to reach the second position.

At the finish, the Danes made a mistake, and “Leviathan” was able to get around them. According to preliminary results, final race and Russia was ranked first, Denmark second, Sweden third, Germany fourth and Finland fifth. The difference in time between the finish of the first and third boats was only 1.5 minutes.

Immediately after the finish, the Danes protested to the Russian team, so the results can be revised, but the Russians in any case would retain the lead in the overall standings of the regatta. Also “Leviathan” took first in the short races. Congratulations to Russian team on a great result!
