Last mile
As we already said, yesterday under the Elizabeth II bridge, the Ultime class IDEC Sport maxima trimaran finished, where skipper Francois Zhuillon and four crew members set a new world record for the Tea Race from Hong Kong to London.
The IDEC Sport team overcame 15,873 nautical miles in 31 days, 23 hours, 36 minutes and 46 seconds, improving Italian performance Giovanni Soldini's maxi trimaran Maserati Multi 70 for more than four days!
It is safe to say that the 63-year-old Zhuillon is the most titled among his fellow skippers of the ocean maxi-trimarans. Recall that he has been the owner of the Jules Verne Trophy since 2017, set many records (including a single crossing the Atlantic), and in 2018 he won the Route du Rhum.
The pictures that we publish were taken when IDEC Sport covered the final mile on the Thames – and right after the crew left the trimaran.
