In Auckland (New Zealand) started Oceanbridge NZL Sailing Regatta in the Olympic classes. In fact, God knows what event, but this time about the outcome of her first race of the day write all the sailing publications in the world. The reason is simple.

At the start of the competition in the 49er class again after a long break, came Peter birling and Blair TUC, which have been called the most famous yachtsmen of the world. Judge for yourself. Silver medalists of the 2012 Games, the winners of the 2016 Olympics. Four-time world Champions in the same class. The winners of the America’s Cup -2017 in part to Emirates Team New Zealand. The Participants Of The Volvo Ocean Race-2017/18. Finally, holders of the Rolex World Sailor of the Year, and best sailors in the world were both recognized twice in 2015 and 2017.

For a long time, questions about whether birling and TUC to reaffirm the 49er and whether they intend to take part in the Games-2020 in Tokyo remained open. But a couple of months ago it became known that they started training.

And then, finally, came the time of the first launch – the NZL Sailing Regatta, Oceanbridge, at the start of which the 49er class was supposed to go all the strongest of the new Zealand master. On their background will look birling and Tuk – especially in the previous Olympic cycle, they never lost a regatta?

Part of the answer already received: they look good. “Not butterflies, but I try to fly,” he joked about this Tuk. On the first day of the regatta eminent crew leader: parishes 1 – 2 – 1- 4 and 8 points.
However, young drivers are, apparently, ready to give 28-year-old Burling and 29-year-old Tuku stiff competition. Only one point from the leaders behind Isaac Makhardi and William Mackenzie (2 – 4 – 2 – 1). While the strongest of the new Zealand crew last year – Logan Dunning-Beck and Oscar Gunn elementary not lucky: they were leading in the third race of the day, but broke the mast.

In General, one thing is clear: easy life Berling and Tuka will not. Well, im no stranger to this.
