On the first day – 3 wins, 2 losses
Yesterday, January 10, the 10th anniversary Monaco Optimist Team Race regatta, the team of optimist yachtsmen, under 14 years old, started at the Monaco Yacht Club.
16 teams from all over the world, representing the world's strongest yacht clubs, traditionally take part in the competition, among them is the team of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club Sailing Academy as part of coach Denis Razumovich and athletes Alexander Minibayev, Kirill Shunenkov, Andrey Fedorov and Alisa Kodaneva .
This regatta will be for our riders the most important stage of preparation for the European Championship in team racing in the class "Optimist", which, like last year, will be held in late August on Lake Ledro in Italy.
Denis Razumovich reports: “We started off quite well, on the first day, January 10, we had 5 races, scored 3 wins and suffered 2 losses: we lost to the current European champions Swedes and 4 Belgians in 2018, so I am pleased with the result .
The guys, the first speakers in this composition, fought with dignity, were collected, in the end only one loss was the result of a tactical error.
Unfortunately, because of the airline, we did not receive our sails on time, we had to chase the local ones, thanks to the organizers for their help.
Our weather is excellent, sunny, yesterday a barrel of 5-7 knots, competitions were even held on the high seas, although earlier we used to chase in the bay ”.
Competitions will last until January 13.
