The first draw of the Grand final series SailGP on high-speed catamarans F50 ended in Marseille with victory of Australian team which had won unprecedented in the history of sailing prize – she got a million dollars!
In Sunday’s Grand final, as we expected, met the teams of Australia and Japan. While both crews were headed by the famous Australian skippers – Tom Slingsby (Olympic champion-2012 in the Laser class, the eight-time world champion in different classes, the winner of the America’s Cup -2013, winner of the title of Best yachtsman in the world in 2010) and Nathan Outteridge (Olympic champion-2012 in the 49er class, winner of 19 world Championships medals in different classes, skipper Artemis Racing in the two Cup “America”).
One of the highlights of the Grand final it almost ended in a crash (this time captured on video), but – lucky. Teams were only 78 centimeters from each other, and if the Australians 0.05 seconds slower – there will be trouble. Fortunately, nothing happened.
