We wish our racers good luck!
In Hyères (France), the first races of the World Championship in the SB20 yacht class will be launched today. Here is what the press service of the Russian Association of this class reports:
Russia ranks third in terms of the number of curled participants at the SB20 World Sailing Championship. Ahead of the hosts are French yachtsmen, followed by the British. In total, the list of applications includes 65 boats.
The day before, a training race was held in Hyeres, and the opening ceremony of the competition took place. The mayor of Hyeres, the president of the yacht club, as well as the president of the SB20 Association, Ed Russo, spoke to the racers. The organizing committee of the championship was also represented, a quiz was held.
As for the training race, less than half of the crews took part in it – the east wind of 20-22 knots led many to think that it was better to save both strength and equipment.
Today at 12:00 Moscow time the start of the first race is scheduled. Wind forecast 3-5 knots. But in the following days, a significant increase – up to 30 knots on Tuesday and up to 42 on Wednesday! …
We wish the Russian crews good luck!
