The prize fund is two hundred thousand!
On the second day of the 7th finals of the Star Sailors League – the decisive regatta of the year on Star-class boats, which takes place at the Nassau Yacht Club in the Bahamas – three races were held.
As you know, in this regatta with a prize pool of $ 200,000, 23 crews participate. They include famous yachtsmen from 22 countries. Including four Olympic champions and 9 silver and bronze medalists of the Olympics, 23 world champions in the Star class, and two more in other Olympic classes.
By the sum of two days and five races held (with one surge), Diego Negri (Italy) and Fridtjof Kleen (Germany) lead 8 points. 9 points (!) Behind them are the current world champions in the "Star" Mateusz Kusnerewicz (Poland) and Bruno Prada from Brazil. In third place are two Americans – the legendary Paul Cayard (a veteran of the America Cup, Whitbread Round the World Race and Volvo Ocean Race, who turned 60 this year) and Phil Trinter – 19 points.
