The plan was adopted unanimously.
According to the Russian Association of Class SB20, in 2021 St. Petersburg will take the European Championship in the class of SB20. The president of the Association, Ivan Gromov, announced this at the reporting meeting of the class held in mid-January.
Recall that the Northern Capital has already hosted the largest class competition – in 2014 in St. Petersburg was the World Championship. In the upcoming season, the world forum invited me to the French city of Yer. Competitions will be held from October 19 to 25 (preliminary registration on the website sb20hyeres2019.com is open).
As for the European Championships, they are held in the event that the World Cup takes a different continent. So in 2012 it was in the Dutch Medemblik (world championship – in Australia) and in 2018 in Irish Dublin (world championship – in Tasmania).
“We applied for the 2020 World Cup, as did Cascais and Singapore,” said Pavel Savchenko, coordinator for international projects of the Russian Association of the SB20 class. – At the conference, when considering applications for 20 and 21 years, it was proposed to hold the World Championships in Cascais in 2021, but the Cascais Yacht Club did not confirm this possibility due to the fact that the traditional time was already reserved for events of other classes. After that, it was decided to transfer the World Cup to Cascais at the end of August 20, and a plan was proposed, according to which, at the end of this regatta, yachts could be sent to Singapore, to the World Cup 2021, starting in early February. And then the boats can be shipped to St. Petersburg for the Euro-2021, which will be held in June. The plan was adopted with great enthusiasm and unanimously.
