Significant breakthrough
And one more message from the press service of the St. Petersburg Sailing School "Krestovsky Island":
On the final day of the anniversary regatta of the 30th edition of the International Palamos Optimist Trophy, the organizers managed to hold three races in the gold fleet and two in the rest.
“All Russian athletes were able to make a significant breakthrough in the results,” says coach Ilya Elyshev. – Artem Maksimkin from Moscow “Vodnik” was able to climb from the 38th place to the 18th, Danila Ivanov – from the 83rd to the 36th. In two races, he went third and finished them in 8 and 4 places, and in the last race the leader of the regatta led him away in an unfavorable direction, and he himself lost a lot of positions. Danila had this result for the outburst, and even the 20th parish could secure him a place in the top 15. He raced very well that day.
Maxim Bondar risked the first race and earned a black flag. But in the next I got together and went up in the protocol.
I was pleased with the young athlete Vanya Morschinin, who was able to finish 20th and 6th in the two final races. For him, this is the first regatta in which there are so many skilled sportsmen.
In general, I am pleased with the results of the final day. I looked at the dynamics – everyone added up very much at the start, made adjustments to navigating the boat on the verge of breaking.
Ahead of us are two training camps in Sochi, and quite a bit of time remains before the selection, which will take place there.
