Our traditional heading: Drugs – evil!
This Saturday, June 1, prosecutor Papeete (French Polynesia) announced that a sailing yacht arriving from Panama was detained by gendarmerie this past Wednesday near the Apataki Atoll in the Tuamotu Archipelago.
On board, 436 kilograms of cocaine were detected at a market price of several million dollars.
Four "yachtsmen" (Italian and Peruvian citizenship) were arrested. Given the scale of smuggling, the trial will be held in Paris. The defendants face up to 30 years in prison and a considerable fine.
This is the seventh "drug yacht", detained in French Polynesia since 2016, according to France Info.
