No one made mistakes
Our special correspondent, Viktor Akatsevich, transmits from Sweden, where the first race day of the European Championship in ice-cream sports in the Monotype XV class took place.
The ice was hard enough, but because of a thaw on the ice, water appeared. The glide was good, the wind speed was 3-6 m / s, sometimes with amplifications. Four dynamic races were held.
Gusts of wind followed one after another, the riders selected the best stretches of distance for acceleration. Buer speeds reached 60 knots. The most successful and experienced athletes "found" a plot in the southern part of the distance, where they managed to accelerate most strongly. Nevertheless, no one (even the leaders) did without mistakes.
According to the results of the day, the domestic crew of Oleg Vasiliev (R1) was ahead of everyone: parishes 1, 1, 1 and 8.
After the race, I was able to take a short interview with the participants of the delegation from the Netherlands. This country put on the race the largest team – 11 boards.
According to Robert Huffermans (H35), there are 17 Monotype XV boomers in the Netherlands. True, the ice in their country happens once every ten years, but this does not prevent the boirers from constantly playing their “club" at various competitions. The leader of the team is the crew of Bow Van Wyck (H32), last year they took third place at the European Championships. And yes, new buers are being built in the Netherlands under the direction of Fred Bulck, who performs with his son on H33. For the team from the Netherlands this championship is a real holiday!
