Letter from the President of EUROSAF
EUROSAF President Josep Pla addressed a letter to the national federations – members of the European Federation. The website of the VFPS has published a part of this document regarding sports competitions:
– EUROSAF monitors the general situation related to COVID-19 and its impact on EUROSAF competitions, taking into account the specific problems of the organizers and the expected opportunity to arrive at the competition venue as scheduled.
By agreement with the organizing organizations, two competitions were canceled, the third was postponed, and four others have so far been kept in their original dates.
The European Championship in Match Racing (EUROSAF Youth Match Race European Championship), which was to be held in Ledro (Italy) on June 18-21, was canceled. The right to hold this championship in 2021 was given to the same conducting organization, the dates will be specified later.
The same applies to the Sailing Club Championship (EUROSAF Club Sailing Championship), which was supposed to take place on the same days on Lake Lipno (Czech Republic).
The European Championship (EUROSAF Pirat Youth European Championship) is planned, as before, to be held on Lake Ratzeburger (Germany) on July 26-31.
The EUROSAF Open Match Race European Championships will be held, as before, in Yekaterinburg (Russia) on August 11-15.
The European Championship in the L30 class (EUROSAF L30 European Championship) is planned, as before, to be held in Marseille (France) on August 20-23.
The European Championship in the discipline “keel two-offshore (cruising) race-mixed crew” (EUROSAF Mixed Offshore European Championship) plans to start from the center of Genoa in the first week of September, and not in June, as was originally announced, on L30 yachts. The duration of the race in time will include two nights. This competition will provide a unique opportunity as a training ground for national teams preparing for the October World Cup in Malta. A qualification series, if required, will be held within a week before the race itself. The regulation on the competition will be published shortly.
The EUROSAF Women Match Race European Championship is planned, as before, to be held in Locarno (Switzerland) on October 15-18. It is expected that by mid-June, information about this competition will be confirmed.
We look forward to when all sailing clubs can open their doors and all yachtsmen will resume their sports activities.
Yours faithfully,
Josep Pla, President of EUROSAF
