There is room to grow
In Spanish Cadiz, the final start of the season in the Techno 293 class continues. 369 athletes from 35 countries of the world participate in windsurfing competitions, including 19 from Russia.
The third racing day of the regatta, according to the press service of the VFPS, turned out to be the most eventful so far. The refereeing team held seven races. However, only the younger boys managed to complete the qualification – in the category of under 15 years old.
“The day was tortured again. In the morning they waited for the wind, again there was fog. As a result, we were able to conduct two races in younger boys and girls, ”said Boris Minaev, the coach of the Moscow team. – The boys qualification is over. Two Russians got into the golden fleet: these are Dmitry Nesterenko from Sevastopol and Maxim Lukyanov from the Academy of Sailing of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club. Gennady Povarnin and Egor Semenikhin will continue to perform in the silver fleet.
Girls will not have qualifications here, as less than 80 athletes are in this age category. In general, the Russians show good results and can still improve them – they have room to grow. "
After two races, the best among our athletes was Polina Ovchinnikova from the Krasnodar Territory. After completing the races with the 5th and 7th arrivals, she takes fifth place. Ulyana Vonogova is 11th, Sofia Pudkova is 24th, Taisia Stopchenko is located on line 34 of the interim protocol.
"At the" senior "distance, everything was more problematic," continues Boris Minaev. – Girls under 17 years old had two races – that is, half of the qualification. Boys have one race. The second was stopped when the fleet had already passed more than half the distance – the judges were afraid of twilight and unstable wind. Moreover, today was already a reserve day of qualification. This is a very rare occurrence for qualifying races to stretch for four days.
In general, our guys are weaker than they could. But they still have time to rehabilitate themselves. Good results in girls from St. Petersburg. Julia Kavalerchik is 13th, Evangeline Boytsova -16th. Moscow athletes are putting their own sticks in the wheels and are not being realized one hundred percent. Daria Bannaya was going well, in the top five. But she didn’t get it … Nevertheless, both Nastya Schukina and Dasha Bannaya still remain in the cohort of leaders and have a claim to the top ten. ”
Moreover, all the Russians are still in the zone of the Golden Fleet. Anastasia Schukina takes 26th place, Daria Bannaya -29th, Violetta Maystrenko -39th, Melania Krysenko -43rd.
The young men in the first half of the standings were four of our athletes: Vladimir Filatov (35th place), Mikhail Alexandrov (41st), Ivan Kovbasyuk (61st) and Danil Dineev (69). Gleb Semiletov is also very close – he is 72nd.
