Turkey imposes a curfew, but not for long …
Today in Turkey, the month-long fast ends and the holiday of Uraza Bairam (which in Turkey is called Ramadan Bairam) comes. However, to prevent the spread of the virus from May 23 to 26, curfew will be imposed again throughout the country with a ban on going out. This measure was announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on May 18. But after the holiday, the authorities are preparing to cancel the quarantine and open the tourist season.
The other day, in news feeds, information has already passed that Turkey has opened borders for citizens of 31 countries. Among them are Russia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, as well as a number of countries in Europe and the Middle East. This is actually not the case. We contacted the consulate to clarify the situation.
Here's what we managed to find out: “Turkey is opening, but only for“ medical tourism ”. The list of medical profiles by which Turkey is ready to accept foreigners for treatment is extensive: orthopedics and traumatology, general and pediatric surgery, urology, ophthalmology, cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, oncology, neurosurgery, hematology, intensive care and reproductive therapy. Entrance by air will be possible only through the airports of Istanbul and Ankara. Together with the patient two accompanying persons can enter. When crossing the border, foreigners are required to present a certificate confirming that they have no Covid-19 (valid for 48 hours) or pass testing already upon arrival (the service will be paid). During a flight to Turkey and during customs checks, tourists must be masked. After passing all the entry procedures, patients and their attendants should immediately go to the clinic immediately and remain on its territory during the entire course of treatment. In hospitals, the area where foreigners will be treated is fenced. ”
Some Russian sailors during the epidemic were locked in Turkey on their yachts. We asked them to comment on the situation:
Andrey Kolyada:
“Yes, curfew for the holidays, on Ramadan Bairam, covers all of Turkey for 4 days. But after that they promise (according to rumors from the market, and so far they have come true with an accuracy of 99%) they will end the curfew and slowly open. Last week, some shopping centers were opened, but you still can’t walk along the promenades, go to the beach and swim, still you can’t go out to children under 20 and those over 65. A message was opened between some provinces, which was closed (for example, you can now travel from Antalya to the province of Mugla, to Marmaris or Fethiye). The provinces of Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir and some others are still closed. ”
Andrey Ukhin:
“Nothing much has changed in the last month. The sea is open, you can walk within the same province and between open provinces. For Marmaris, this is right to Bodrum and a little further. To the east – without limits, the sea is open everything, to Mersin for sure, and maybe Adana too. According to the rules, you can stay on yachts in two, but many Turks and four go fearlessly. ”At the curfew that will soon come, one should sit on a boat without any relief, but in the bays, where many are anchored, no one has ever checked anyone.”
Thus, you can expect good news in the very near future. We will follow the development of events.
