Journal itBoat continues the series of publications about the nominee of the award “European boat of the year”. In the last article we talked about the contenders for the title of “Best cruising sailboats”. In this issue we will focus on the nominees in class Performance-Cruiser — boats, suitable for a relaxing family holiday and to participate in the race. The winners will be announced in 2019 in one of the main for yacht exhibitions Boot Düsseldorf.
Arcona 435
Building on the success of the 430-th model, received the title of “European boat of the year” in 2009, the shipyard has built a new 43-foot yacht Arcona 435. The boat was very similar to its predecessor. And although at first sight between them is difficult to find differences, they are.
435-I found the wider the stern, making the area of the salon and the cabins were increased without compromising seaworthiness. Also the boat has received wide side passages on the deck. The design was refined the design of the sails, which in combination with optimised weight gave it good handling.
Grand Soleil 48 Performance
On the creation of a 48-foot Grand Soleil worked its own design office of the shipyard Cantiere del Pardo in collaboration with the Studio Nauta Yacht. To achieve the high speed performance was possible thanks to the application of modern computing methods to determine the hydrodynamics of the hull (CFD) and the calculation of load distribution (FEM).
GS 48 Performance also comes with Race (racing). To reduce the weight in both versions, if the interior were used lightweight wood. In the configuration of the Race part of the furniture removed altogether or transformered, which makes the design even easier and frees up space for storage of sails.
Also one of the features of the model is the ability to build a boat on a choice of fiberglass, carbon fiber or polyester.
X-Yachts X46
This fast family cruiser received a large number of portholes and deck hatches, giving natural light to the interior. The clever design of the deck and the proper placement of the controls makes travelling on the X46 easy and relaxed, regardless of whether the boat one person or team.
Also on deck, an additional compartment for the liferaft. Behind the helm are spacious lockers that can be used to hold snap-ins or the installation of additional generator.
