This year, in the “world's largest regatta of one class,” as the organizers proudly position, 1164 young athletes from 40 countries take part.
Russia is represented by an impressive fleet – 72 people! We cheer for each of them. Come on guys!
After the first race day, the best of ours is Danila Ivanov. According to the results of two races, he ranks high 13th place (11 points, 2nd and 9th parishes) among juniors (athletes from 2004 to 2008). Next – in the 17th place Kirill Shunenkov – 14 points (parishes 1 – 13).
In the first hundred now also are: 47. Fedor Krivobokov – 28 points. … 74. Alexander Laptev – 39. … 84. Vladislav Kochetov – 43.
Junne Broers from Holland leads the juniors – 3 points.
Note that the cadets (athletes of 2009 and 2010 years of birth) in the first position with two wins in two races is the Brazilian Eric Scheidt. Familiar last name? Well, of course! Yes, Eric is the son of the most famous Robert Scheidt, we will not list all the regalia. We can only say that the senior Saydt – two-time Olympic champion.
As for ours, Yaroslav Snimchikov is in 45th place (39 points).
Garda Meeting Optimist – the regatta is amazingly entertaining. As evidenced by the selection of pictures taken by the famous sailing photographer Matias Kapitstsano.
