The winner of the first stage – Alexey Gerasimov
According to rusyf.ru, on July 3-4, the 1st stage of the national championship of the VFPS on interactive sailing (eSailing) 2020 took place.
55 athletes from 15 regions of the Russian Federation declared for participation in the regatta. Participants were divided by draw into 3 groups, after 6 qualifying races, the top 20 went to the gold fleet, the next 20 to the silver, the remaining participants in the regatta could continue the race in the bronze fleet (the bronze fleet races did not take place on July 4 due to the absenteeism of the participants in the race distance) . When calculating the results, 2 worst results were excluded.
The winner of the 1st stage was an experienced yachtsman from Lipetsk, a participant in the World Championships, the European Championship, the winner of the Russian Championship in 1999, the winner of the Baltic regatta in the Cadet class, Alexei Gerasimov.
“The race turned out to be difficult, I understood that all the guys are well prepared and will have to try to get into the golden fleet. In the final, it was somewhat calmer, especially after I drove off the first 3 races perfectly, ”says Alexei Gerasimov, who learned about the interactive sail during a pandemic, watched broadcasts in Twich (video game streaming portal), understood the game, trained, registered for participation in the national championship and won the first stage!
The silver medalist of the stage was the famous "virtual" and real racer, organizer of virtual regattas, an athlete from Vladivostok, Alexei Voloshenko.
The bronze medal was won by the master of sports, a member of the USSR national team in the Finn class, world champion in virtual regatta, and virtual team racing coach Mikhail Fomin. Michael's motto is “Winning in sailing is necessary first of all with your head”, so since 1999 he has been actively involved in racing on computer tactical simulators.
Note that in the championship participated as a rider (to the great joy of both the organizers and participants) the judge of real regattas Nikolai Viktorovich Yushkov.
