Starry is back!
An absolutely sensational message appeared today on the popular Australian site https://www.sail-world.com.
The situation is truly amazing. Studying the World Sailing Charter, which, apparently, no one had long since opened, an employee of one of the technical committees Timothy Fawcett-Lacey discovered a point that immediately blew up the peaceful course of affairs in the International Sailing Federation.
Here is what this paragraph (to be exact, in the third footnote to paragraph 4 of chapter C) says:
“In the event that the holding of the Olympic Games is postponed for more than 4 (four) months, the class of yachts that was last excluded from the Games program will automatically be restored to the program of these Games.”
And what does it mean? And the fact that at the Games in Tokyo next summer we will again see Star-class yachts!
In the world of sail, the discovery of Fawcett-Lacey caused, of course, a lot of noise and put the question on the agenda: but there can be only 10 classes of yachts in the Games program – who then should be thrown out?
Fans of sailing racing do not make sense to worry. The employee of the technical committee, and this time, did not blunder. Found in the annals of the IOC an explanation:
“In this case, the number of yacht classes is increasing – which, of course, concerns only one Olympics. At the same time, rhythmic gymnastics competitions are automatically removed from the program of this Olympiad. ”
