Broke into the lead
At the virtual regatta "Electronic Armada 2020", dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the third race day took place. Vasily Bogdanov became a leader in the group under 18 years old, and in the age category under 14 all finalists were determined
Yesterday, May 12, at the virtual regatta of the Academy of Sailing and the Yacht Club of St. Petersburg, races were held in two age categories. The semifinals took place in the group under 14 years old, and the finals in the group under 18 years old. The final series will last two days – racers are waiting for 10 races (5 races per day) with two emissions of the worst arrivals.
In the age category up to 14 years, throughout the regatta, lots are divided into different groups of two favorites – Nikita Chernykh and Andrei Shunenkov (both – Academy of Sailing). At each new stage of the tournament, these racers confidently win, leaving no chance for competitors. So the semi-finals were no exception. Nikita and Andrey won four races, scored four points and broke away from their closest competitors by nine and eight points respectively. In the final series we are waiting for an interesting fight for gold between these athletes.
Recall that earlier Nikita Chernykh was ahead of Andrei Shunenkov in the fight for gold at the first All-Russian regatta "Electronic Sails 2020". After that, Andrey took a confident revenge in the series of regattas “Academy Cup for Virtual Regatta”, leaving Nikita far behind. Their next rendezvous in the finals of "Electronic Armada 2020" will be a real decoration of the entire tournament. Following the results of the semi-finals, Alexey Vorozhbitov, Anna Simonenko and Yan Kurtysh (all – the Academy) followed the leaders. Let's see if one of them can intervene in the fight for the gold medal.
But if in the youngest age category we are only looking forward to the final series, then the senior racers are already fighting for the medals with might and main. So far, the winner from this fight is an athlete from Sevastopol Vasily Bogdanov. Vasily had previously won the silver of Electronic Sails, but now he has seriously decided to win the Electronic Armada. After the first five races, he is four points ahead of his closest competitor, Pavel Sobchenko from Sochi. They are followed by Maxim Chernov (Moscow) and Rodion Brovin (St. Petersburg).
On May 13, a free day is planned at the Electronic Armada 2020 virtual regatta. On Thursday, May 14, the final series starts in the under-14 age category, and the winners of the regatta will be determined in the under-18 age category. All final races will be shown live on the pages of the Academy of Sailing and the Yacht Club of St. Petersburg on Facebook.
