A real gift!
After two warm, calm days, the St. Petersburg weather finally allowed the participants of the championship of St. Petersburg in the water area of the Neva Bay of the Gulf of Finland to drive well.
By the beginning of the starting procedures of the third competition day, the wind rose to 7-9 knots. Compared with the calm on Sunday, such a strong and stable south-east wind seemed like a real gift for athletes.
The dramatically changed weather conditions allowed the organizers to carry out the maximum program and conduct four races in each of the classes. During the day, the wind only intensified and in gusts reached 15 knots.
There were no surprises in the most numerous Optimist class. Athlete of the Academy of Sailing Kirill Shunenkov, who won this season all three stages of the regatta series “Optimists of the Northern Capital. Gazprom Cup ”, confirmed the status of the favorite. He won all four races and led the overall standings of both the championship of St. Petersburg and the “Optimists of the Northern Capital.” Such successful parishes allowed Kirill to break away from his competitors. Timofey Volchkov from Vodnik lags behind the leader by 8 points, and Daniil Perchik (Academy of Sailing, Rautu, ShVSM on the Air Force) and at all by 11.
Recall that during the championship of St. Petersburg in the Yacht Club of St. Petersburg, the final stage of the regatta “Optimists of the Northern Capital. Gazprom Cup. ”
Among the girls in the standings of “Optimists of the Northern Capital”, Daria Savinova (23 points) leads. Following her are Maria Struk (Vodnik, Youth of Moscow, 23) and Alisa Ivanova (Vodnik, 34).
“The weather conditions are very good, but the wind could have been stronger,” said Daria Savinova, an athlete of the Favorit school (Vyborg). – The first two races did not work out for me as well as the third and fourth, which I won. I liked this day. This season I have made significant progress. I stand on the standings of the "Optimists of the Northern Capital." Of course, I want to win this series of regattas. Now I have a count in my head. In three stages I earned 13 points, and the leader among girls – 11. I need to overtake her so that there are two girls between us. I hope that everything will turn out that way.
In the standings of the championship of St. Petersburg among girls, Alisa Ivanovskaya from the Academy of Sailing, Rautu and ShVSM in the Air Force leads with 51 points.
Today at 11:00 it was planned to start the last qualifying race in the Optimist class. After her, the guys returned to the shore to calculate the results and the division into a "gold" and "silver" fleet. After lunch, the guys will return to the race for the races of the final series.
In all other classes, the start of races is scheduled for 12.00.
In the “Zoom-8” class, the leadership is shared by Daniil Serdukov and Stepan Zapoyev, athletes of the Academy of Sailing, “Raut” and “ShVSM in the Air Force”, who scored six points each.
In the Luch Mini class, the first three are the Baltiets and ShVSM Air Force athletes – Grigory Aristov (5 points), Vladimir Hasanenko (10) and Veronika Smirnova (15). In the pre-Olympic classes “420th” and “29th” the crews of the Academy of Sailing traditionally rule the ball. In the internal competitions between the “academicians", female crews are so far successful – Ksenia Monastyreva / Tatyana Golozubova (5 points) and Anna Korneva / Evgenia Stepanova (6 points). In the “420th” class, the crew of Monastyreva confidently leads, but Korneva and Stepanova in the “29th” class are competed by Vladislav Grakhov and Ivan Sologubov, who also have six points.
“The first two distances are set for Optimists and high school,” says Ulyana Volskaya, an athlete at the Academy of Sailing (class “29th”). – High school, such as "29th", let the last, because we go fast enough. There is a separate distance for us. We go to the upper sign, which is further away than for the other classes. Everything suits me in terms of organizing competitions.
Championship of St. Petersburg turns out to be especially intense for windsurfers. In the Techno and RS: X class, the organizers have already held eight races, and in the “DNA” class – six.
In the "DNA" class, athletes of the Academy of Sailing are still leading. Alexey Vorozhbitov takes first place with six points. Following him are Anton Golubev (12) and Dmitry Cornescu (18).
In the Techno class, Eva Boytsova (Academy of Sailing) leads by a large margin, gaining 16 points. Other St. Petersburg athletes – Alexei Efremov (Krestovsky Island) and Maxim Lukyanov (Academy of Sailing) – are behind by 31 and 59 points respectively.
In the overall standings in the RS: X class, an interesting leadership battle developed between Mikhail Alexandrov (Krestovsky Island, 14 points), Dmitry Sandakov (Sailing Academy, 20 points) and Yegor Zhilin (Sailing Academy and Krestovsky Island, 20 points).
