In 1999, Disney launched their Disney Cruise Line, a cruise vacation on a luxury boat geared completely towards the family. The cruises are centered on creating a fun-filled environment for young and old. The fleet, comprised of the Magic, Dream and Wonder boats, were built with children in mind and the theme continues with ongoing daily activities, such as one on one visits with favorite Disney characters for the little ones. Each cruise offers inclusive room service, entertainment, meals and most snacks.
On August 15, 1999, the Disney Magic made her maiden voyage. The ship, fashioned after the bygone era of the 1920s, sports an elongated black hull, brilliant red funnels, yellow trim and an ambient art nouveau decor. It holds 2, 400 passengers plus crew. The ship has 10 decks and an on board crew of 945 individuals to cater to all the guests needs. Guests can enjoy three pools and two whirlpool spas. The pools offer plenty of shallow water for little ones to delight in safe water fun with their parents. Adults can appreciate a restaurant that is specifically for adults only. Families can dine together in elegance on gourmet foods or choose a more casual experience. The Disney Wonder offers three- and four-day cruises from ports of call at Disney's private island, Castaway Cay and Nassau in the Bahamas. Disney Cruise Vacations P.O. On January 26, 2011, Disney sails its newest ship, the Disney Dream. The ship offers 14 decks with 1, 250 staterooms. It can hold 4, 000 passengers plus 1, 458 crew members. The ship takes her design from the early 20th-century luxury ships. It features the AquaDuck water coaster where thrill seeking guests can enjoy being propelled down a tube to a river. The AquaDuck, the first water coaster of its kind ever developed for a ship at sea, thrusts guests down a clear water chute that affords riders a breathtaking ocean view as they plunge 765 feet through four decks to a large replica of a tropical river. For those who do not wish to brave the AquaDuck water coaster, three other pools provide other experiences. Entertainment abounds on the ship with deck parties and 3D movies. Guests also have a wide array of casual or gourmet dining to choose from. The ship is set to offer three- and five-day Bahama cruises.
The Disney Wonder shares many of the same qualities as her sister ship, the Disney Magic. The ship's 10 decks accommodate 2, 400 passengers with 945 crew members. The interior features Venetian glass and a bronze statue of the Little Mermaid, Ariel. The ship offers three pools: one for toddlers, one for families and one for adults only. Children's activity centers and special supervised programs allow parents to get away for a romantic dining experience at the adults-only restaurant. The Wonder also delivers plenty of family dining experiences from gourmet to casual. The Disney Wonder offers 2-to 15-night cruises. Visitors can enjoy a cruise through the Panama Canal, the Mexican Riveria or an Alaskan Adventure. The ship drops anchor at numerous spots, such as Skagway, Alaska, where visitors can take time to themselves and explore.
