Today on the famous regatta XXXVII LAKE GARDA MEETING OPTIMIST CLASS on lake Garda in Italy will be the first race, the press service of the Sailing school “Krestovsky island”.
This year the Garda are 35 countries and more than 1300 young sailors. 10 pupils of trainers of Elijah and Catherine Elisheva Venatovskiy represent our school.
Yesterday was held the parade of opening of competitions and a traditional Country Cup, in which participating in the competition of States are one rider. Russia in a pleasant “warm up” event was represented by the athlete of the school “Krestovsky island” Danil Ivanov. He took 17 th place.
– The race took place in the coastal zone, to the fans it was convenient to observe them, – said the coach of the class “Optimist” Ilya Eliseu. – Before the start we had to spend four days of training. The guys were not in fresh water for six months. And now we just initially used, worked on speed. Remembered the area because many have already been on the Garda. Here consistently strong wind blows in clear weather. One day he was about 23 knots, and even had a little breakdown: Danila Ivanov broke the block right on the water. Good thing it happened in training.
Tried more than three hours on the water not to sit, not to burn out and not get sick. After all, there will be a responsible start.
