Minus Transat CIC
Yesterday it became known about the cancellation of the next popular regatta (how many such cancellations have already been!). The fact that in a pandemic, it is impossible to conduct a race, the organizers of the transatlantic Transat CIC announced.
For those who are not in the know: Transat CIC is the former OSTAR, the title partner of which is now CIC.
The famous singles race, first held 60 years ago (!) Was supposed to start on May 10 (3,500 nautical miles from French Brest to American Charleston). The organizers took all possible steps in an attempt to save the Transat CIC-2020 – in particular, they discussed with the participants and sponsors options for moving the race to a later date. But in the end, the Transat CIC-2020 was forced to cancel – finally and irrevocably.
Now, as the mayor of Brest, François Kiyandre, said, the organizers are faced with a new task – to conduct the next Transat CIC at the highest level – in 2024.
P.S. This year, classes Class40, Multi50, IMOCA 60 and Ultime were to take part in the race.
