Golden Cup Goes to New Zealand
In Melbourne today ended the drawing of the Finn Gold Cup – the "Golden Cup" in the "Finn". So in this class of yachts is called the world championship.

The conditions in which the regatta took place were, let's say, specific. Here is just one example: on Friday in Melbourne the highest air temperature was recorded for 143 years of observations – 44 degrees Celsius! On the water, of course, it was cooler, but not by much. Thanks to the organizers who made life easier for yachtsmen: at the finish they were waiting for an ice bath.

The holder of the "Golden Cup" with a tal 30-year-old New Zealander Josh Junior. Prior to this, there were no victories in his track record, the biggest success was second place at one of the stages of the World Cup in 2016. But in Melbourne he performed brilliantly: he took the lead after the first day of the regatta – and so he didn’t give the championship to anyone, gaining 44 points in the end.

In the second and third places (52 and 53 points respectively), Dutchman Nicholas Heiner and Hungarian Jombor Berech (World Sailing World Champion in Aarhus 2018).

In Melbourne ended today with the draw Finn Gold Cup – the “Golden Cup” in “Finn”. So in this class of yacht is called the world Cup.

In Melbourne there were two of the first race of Finn Gold Cup – the “Golden Cup” in “Finn”. Leadership was captured by two kiwi – Andy Moloney and Josh Junior: both have 6 points.

Finn Gold Cup – the biggest regatta of the class, during which is played the title of world champion. To participate in the current “Golden Cup” arrived 60 riders from more than twenty countries. But the Russians at this time there. Apparently, the leaders of the team decided that Melbourne, far away, the cost of the trip is enormous, and the chances of success.

Mecca sails vote for Golden Globe Race
The authorities of Mecca of the French sail, Le Sables d’Olon, in the department of Vendée, unanimously voted for the round-the-world Golden Globe Race to return to their city in 2022, as in 2018.

By the decision of the City Council of Les Sables d’Olon, the project’s financing in 2022 will be significantly expanded. Moreover, the council supported GGR races also in 2026 and 2030.

As the head of the Golden Globe Race organizing committee Don McIntyre emphasized, he cannot but be glad that the authorities of Le Sables d’Alonn saw considerable marketing opportunities in the retro race Golden Globe Race. This means that his child is guaranteed a long life.

It is already known that 22 people are planning to take part in the next GGR, which starts on September 4, 2022 – Austrian, 5 Australians, Canadian, 2 French, Irish, Italian, New Zealander, Norwegian, 7 British and two Americans.

The authorities of Mecca of French sail – Les-Sables-d’olonne in the vendée – has unanimously voted to 2022 Golden Globe Race round the world again, as in 2018, took the start in their city.

Maria Andrey Andrei Malygina takes third place in the European Championship in the class J / 70, which continues on Lake Garda in Italy.
