The participation of professional photographers made from October 14, 2019 to October 6, 2020 is allowed to participate in the competition. This year, as the organizers emphasize, the competition is held for the 11th time.

Recall that Yacht Russia magazine is an information partner of the contest. We are extremely pleased that the number of Russian photographers participating in it is growing every year. The level of their work is also rising. Both in the past and the year before last, the authors of 6 of the 80 images selected by the international jury were our compatriots. This year, 80 pictures will also be selected – this will happen on October 15. Then, voting on the Internet will begin, which will last until November 10. The author of the picture with the most votes in this online voting will receive the so-called Public Award.

      Will L’Occitane make a difference in ocean racing?

In early February, a new Open 60 (IMOCA) class yacht, the L’Occitane, designed by Sam Manor for Armel Tripon, was launched in France. She became the seventh – and so far the last IMOCA class boat – built for the Vendée Globe 2020-21 race.

The new yacht is distinguished by the radical design of the bow – it is made in the spirit of the famous American scow boats and in recent years has become more and more popular in a number of racing classes on the high seas: for example, Mini 6.50 and Class 40. The only thing that can really let the L’Occitane team down is timing. There is very little time left before the first race of the season – from Brest to Charleston, the start will take place on May 10. If something goes wrong, there simply may not be enough time to repair or modify the yacht before the start of the Vendée Globe.

      On August 28, the Russian Sailing Championship in international classes started at the Yacht Club of St. Petersburg.

Competitions are held in six classes: "Laser 4.7", "420", "29th", "Techno", "RS: X" and "Nakra 15 – mixed". There are three distances on the regatta: “yellow” – for classes “420” and “Laser 4.7”, “green” – for classes “Nakra 15” and “29th”, and “red” – for classes sailing board “ Techno ”and“ RS: X ”.

287 young athletes from 36 cities of Russia take part in the regatta. Yachtsmen's age: from 11 to 20 years. Even athletes from Belarus arrived to participate in competitions in St. Petersburg.

Most participants for the Championship of Russia in international classes were declared in the class "Laser 4.7". For the victory in this discipline 95 riders compete. Before each race day, athletes are randomly divided into two fleets. After the qualification, they will form a “golden” and “silver” fleet (48 – “golden”, 47 – “silver”) and will be chased directly by the fleets.
