Today

      Melbourne again in the spotlight
On Sunday in Melbourne, the first two races of the World Championship in Laser Radial are due to take place. The list of applicants – 110 racers from 40 countries.

Melbourne again in the spotlight

The regatta will be held in the same yacht club Sandringham – a suburb of Melbourne, where a week ago, recall, the world championship in "Laser Standard" ended.

In Australia, an excellent company of racers gathered, among which are stars of the first magnitude. Suffice it to say that all three Rio 2016 winners will take part in the championship. This is Olympic gold winner (and six-time world champion!) Marit Bowmeester from the Netherlands (you can see her in the picture), Irishwoman Annalie Murphy, silver medalist of those Games, and, finally, bronze medalist – reigning world champion Anne-Marie Rind (Denmark).

The list of applicants for success, of course, is not limited to these three racers – to list all for a long time, and it makes no sense. For example, which of the hostesses of the regatta – the Australian – will perform better than others? Nobody knows this, if only because as many as 19 (!) Representatives of Australia will go to the start of the championship.

Now about ours. The list of participants includes five Russians – Ekaterina Guseva, Ekaterina Zyuzina, Maria Kislukhina, Valeria Lomatchenko and Alexandra Lukoyanova. As we once wrote about them, I really want their quantity in Melbourne to turn into quality. We wish you success, girls!

The first race of the championship, we repeat, is scheduled for Sunday. But it’s not a fact that they can be carried out: a preliminary forecast for this day promises light unstable winds. Well, let's see how it really turns out.

The final day of the championship is Friday, February 28th.

Today

      How is it in Melbourne?
How do the Russian representatives perform in Melbourne, where the Oceanian championship in the Laser Standard and Laser Radial classes is coming to an end? Here are the latest news.

How is it in Melbourne?

In the men's competition today, one race took place (total 6). Maxim Nikolaev took the 12th place in it and, having scored 78 points in total (with one outburst), is still in 21st position. Daniil Krutskikh was only 55th in today's race (this result was ejected) and now occupies 42nd place (185 points).

Women at "Laser Radial" today held two races. Our girls, as you know, got into the Silver Fleet, where they look very worthy. In the first race of the day, Maria Kislukhina was 3rd, Ekaterina Zyuzina was 8th, Alexandra Lukoyanova was 22nd. Kislukhina won the second race, Zyuzina came to the finish 6th, Lukoyanova – 7th.

Tomorrow, January 21, the Oceania Championship will end. Recall that in essence these are training starts before the world championships in these classes, which will be held in Melbourne in a month.
