While the weather is stormy …
Tomorrow in Sweden starts the race of the European Championship in ice boating in the Monotype XV class. 24 crews from six countries have been announced for the championship – Russia, Estonia, Germany, Sweden, Poland and the Netherlands, our special correspondent Viktor Akatsevich reports.
This year, the organizer of the competition is Russia (each country participating in the international association holds such races in turn). Unfortunately, holding an event of such a level in Russia is not yet within the power of our small association of the Monotype XV class, therefore the championship is being held in Sweden with the support of an international association.
Russia will be represented by three buers:
The buer of two-time European champion Oleg Vasiliev is number R1.
The crew of Andrei Maslov from Moscow will perform on the R55.
Our crew is a participant in races on the R15 boer.
Unfortunately, the crew of Vadim Bihler, Honored Master of Sports and multiple European champion, will not be able to perform this year.
Today, February 9, is the opening day at the championship. The weather is stormy, and most crews chose not to go to training, so as not to break the boer before starting.
Racing will begin tomorrow, and we will try to send daily reports on the events of the championship.
